The physics
department at Stafford House College has continued to extend its
facilities with specialist equipment donated by GEC Marconi Research
Laboratories (part of BAE Systems).
The new addition to their range of technical equipment means that
electrical and optical signals can be investigated showing techniques
employed in modern industry and research laboratories.
The department also has a wide range of specialist equipment including
lasers and microwave apparatus which can demonstrate important effects
on the way light behaves and its significance to the modern world.
Dr Kolinsky, Physics Lecturer said: ‘We are
constantly developing and improving our facilities. With the arrival of
the centenary of Einstein’s “miracle” year of 1905 which saw the
publications of three famous works - Brownian motion, the photoelectric
effect and the special theory of relativity - we will be putting on an
interactive exhibition next year to mark this occasion.’ |
