Media Studies Teacher Meets Popstars          (Back)

Gareth Gates, Kym Marsh, Abs, Amy Studt and Mark Owen were just some of the UK Popstars that Richard Roberts, Media Studies teacher at Stafford House College rubbed shoulders with in his PR role at a recent charity concert for GWR, one of the UK’s largest radio groups.

On Saturday 8th November, Coventry’s Skydome Arena hosted the biggest charity music event in the Midlands. In the past three years the annual event has raised over £45,000 for local charities and welcomed chart-topping groups such as Blue and Atomic Kitten.

Before joining Stafford House College, Richard worked in the radio industry for six years arranging the marketing and events for several local radio stations. In 2002 one of his projects won the NTL National Radio Award for Marketing Excellence. Richard is still actively involved in the media, from taking students on organised trips, to returning as the PR Manager of charity concerts.
