A student on a
foundation programme at Stafford House College has managed to calculate
her way into the finals of a top British Mathematics competition.
Over sixty thousand students entered the competition, which was held
throughout the country and eighteen year old Xiao Yu Wang from China
made it to the top 100 prize winners. As a non UK student Xiao Yu was
not able to continue to the final round, but that did not stop her from
demonstrating a multiple display of algebraic technique and numerical
analysis.
Since 1997, British Mathematical Olympiad has held an annual contest in
the UK, offering top class math’s students the opportunity to flex their
numeric skills in a nation wide competition.
Xiao Yu Wang, who is studying Foundation Mathematics said: ‘I had a lots
of fun, was able to answer some challenging questions and most of all
really enjoyed myself’.
Dan Radlett, Principal at Stafford House College said: ‘I am delighted
at Xaio Yu’s hard work and enthusiasm in her studies and the contest.
She is an asset to Stafford House College. |
